Mystery/ Adventure Evaluation
November 14th will be the evaluation for the Mystery/ Adventure book you have read. You may write a page summary  for your book that includes the plot, setting, characters, characterizations, theme, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution of the story . This will be attached to the evaluation when you bring it on test day and will help your grade. (the date was delayed to allow all 6th grade to test at the same time)
Reading For the Year
Reading Assignments
Parents,
By now you should be aware of our reading assignments for each 9 weeks. To clarify some confusion, I have mapped out what each 9 weeks requires. The assignment for the first book will be completed in class on Sept. 6. Your child most likely has read their first book and should have no problem completing the first assignment. The second book assignment will be due October 3.
Students are keeping a reading log in their journals. This reading log will be sent home at the end of each semester in order for you to see the books read by your child.

Assignments According to 9 Weeks.
1st 9 weeks- Students will choose two books to read. No genre requirement for the first reading. Second book reading should be a biography/autobiography/memoir.
2nd 9 weeks- Students will read one mystery/adventure and one historical/realistic fiction book.
3rd 9 weeks- Students will read one nonfiction book (any nonfiction genre) as well as one fantasy/science fiction/mythology book.
4th 9 weeks- Students will read one informational text book of their choice (correlating with our research project) and one book of poetry/drama.

*Remember: This project will count as 2 test grades each 9 weeks!
Our goal is for students to be exposed to as many genres as possible. Students are encouraged to pick a book that is appropriate for their reading level. If there are questions regarding the appropriateness of a book or about this project in general, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your support!
